Ditto! I am glad to see this project moving forward. I have my old Motorola Lapdock 100 hooked up with a miracast adapter & my Turbo(using an OTG cable). I had a few pics of the setup posted in another forum. I will be happy to show them here. (when the forum is fully up)

I couldn't agree more. It was very disappointing to see this campaign end without funding and very happy to see that you all are moving your vision forward. I am excited to try the beta app!

It's a shame not enough people backed the project as it's a great idea, I hope beta software will come out.

Great project. The software is more important than the hardware really.
Hope they will open the software to general public. Open sourcing the software would be ideal, charging for the software could provide a valuable revenue source for the devs to pursue hardware development.

This is a software play all day long. Trying to tie the profitability into the hardware seems crazy. They would launch the dock and in 2 weeks I'm going to find a Chinese knock-off which will be completely functional for a tiny fraction of the cost of the official dock. The dock is only going to sell to people who don't know any better and to people who want to support the platform (i purchase canonical gear!!). They need to take the dock off the table or at best consider the dock like a phase 2 launch. The money is in the software. Sell this as an app in the play store at $10 a pop. Hell, if it's more than a rebranded launcher (which they said they have their own SDK so i assume it's significantly more) then you could go $15.

Hi guys, thank you for joining the discussions While it is true that most of the project focus has been on software, we want to provide a controlled platform (both software and hardware) that will allow us to provide a one stop solution to the general public. For most none technology geeks (like myself ), I feel that they wouldn't like a DIY project, and instead want a single, packaged, ready to go solution that they can just purchase. So that is why we launched our KS campaign as a hardware project. But we will see how the open beta will goes. If enough people want to use Andromium OS in a DIY style, we have no problem making this a software only project.

We could start a wiki, test different hardware during beta, and once we've compiled enough data, make appropriate end user suggested hardware.

We are excited to see this project moving forward, we are hopeful supporters of both the OS and hardware monetization efforts. We cannot wait to start playing with this and assisting in anyway possible to help this OS surface as the next global OS solution.

Ya agree, once everyone began testing, I will look into throwing up a public wiki.

hi, will i be able to run linux desktop apps on andromium like chrome, vlc, and just for kicks eclipse? I believe that is a whole different thing, and the people maintaining the OS would need to integrate support for Linux/Wine applications. If this becomes as big as I think it may, then surely there will be many custom ROM's built around this to allow for applications like those to run in an Android desktop like experience. I try to look at Andromium as a separate Launcher app, that shows a desktop home screen instead, the launcher can open apps, but it cant do something as integrated as this.
