Hi undeadninjatv, currently we have a SDK in a close beta with a selective few developer. Using the SDK developer can develop new games or port their existing Android game over to Andromium Platform. However we are still making major changes to the SDK to improve performance and also refining the API(s), so that is why currently the SDK is still in close beta.
In the future, once we release our SDK publicly and have developer start developing apps for Andromium, we would have our own apps store that developers can publish their apps (we plan to support both Free and Paid app publication). As for the website vs App store, the amount of work involve won't be too much different, it is matter of getting the SDK ready for developer first, before we spend the development effort for the app store.

Hi undeadninjatv, very interesting project. What is the performance like so far? Have you had a chance to test it on a low-end Chromebook?

Hi undeadninjatv, Andromium OS currently support HTC ONE M7. Also the M7 support MHL display out adaptors, so you can get one of those cable to hook up your phone to an TV or Monitor (as a alternative to Chromcast). Currently we don't support MS mobile phones, and we haven't had a chance to test the Kindle HDX. But in theory the Kindle should work.
Best,

Hi Spencer, welcome to the forum, I think you like many of the people in the forum have similar usage requirements to use your phone to do it all, without having to carry around another laptop/desktop computer everywhere. Please come check back in the forum periodically, because we are expect to make a couple major announcement in the next few weeks/months, and will be able to bring a truly universal plug and play solution to our users very soon.
Best,
-Gordon

Hi Blia, no the Smartbook will use a wired connection over USB, but it will be an universal standard supporting most Android smartphones as I mentioned above. As far as the technical information behind the scenes, we are not ready to reveal our secrete sauce just yet. But stay tune, as soon as we official announce the Smartbook, we will provide our users with all the technical information about the hardware Best, -Gordon

Hi Bila, yes we are going to provide all the technical details in a detail post on our website once we are ready to launch the device for online purchase. But just a sneak peek: Technical requirements for Andromium Smartbook: - Android 5.0 or above - 1GB ram minimal, but 2GB highly recommended - 10mb of storage space (for the Andromium OS app from the playstore) - USB Type-C port recommended, but also support older micro-usb port. As you can see our requirements are very modest, and majority of android phones in the market today should be able to meet it -Gordon

We are actually making the Andromium Smartbook(Laptop) our first priority, we are aiming to have the Smartbook ready by early Q2, so the dock will be push back a bit till Q3 or maybe early Q4

Hi S6 Edge, unfortunately Samsung S6 generations phones (including edge, edge+, Note5) does not support MHL or micro hdmi cable from the USB port, on those phones only way to use Andromium OS is through wireless display (Chromecast, Mirecast) for now, until Andromium Laptop is ready for consumer purchase later this year (around early Q2).
Best,

Hi desainted thank you for the encouragement. To answer your question, yes we still very much alive. We been continuing improving the Andromium OS beta trials, with the latest version being release in November. On the hardware front, we are focusing all our attention on developing the andromium laptop. We are in the currently doing internal QA testing on the prototype laptop, and is hoping to run a kickstarter campaign for the laptop around March/April 2016 timeframe. To answer your specific questions about Andromium: 1) Yes the laptop dock is design to support Type-C, with backward compatibility with Micro-B for older devices 2) Yes, but not all devices can support right click currently (a software issue), we are slowing adding more devices support for right click function as newer version of Andromium Beta is released. Currently many devices are supported, including most Samsung devices. 3) Laptop will not have ethernet support (a cost issue), but desktop dock (which is targeted for Q4 of 2016) might have ethernet support. Currently undecided (a hardware limitation, software level support already there) 4) Yes, many CTRL command support are there, but not all, our SDK allow developer to add those command to their apps, but it is up to them to implement it. 5) Network drive possible, but not priority due to so much planned functionalities on the current project timeline. But with that say, third party developer/app can bring that functionality to Andromium. We hoping to have an official announcement closer to the laptop kickstarter launch date. But for now those are the information we can share Best, -Gordon

Hi lavoscracker, thank you for your support. Ya we think MS Continuum will help drive awareness of our platform to new users. Especially for Android users who are not looking to switch to the WM OS.

Hi Lavoscracker, you should be able to use Andromium OS with Chromecast or other similar wireless display technologies, along with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. We are currently behind schedule in making our desktop dock ready for consumer sales, but we still anticipate that we will have the dock ready for consumers purchase by Q1/Q2 of 2016. In the mean time, you can use Andromium OS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andromium.os) through a complete wireless setup as I suggested above, to get a peak into Andromium Platform functionalities. Hope that answer your questions

So working with 4k is actually a very weird thing right now (because of HDMI 1.4). Usually when user attached a video device to a TV (for example blueray player to a TV), the two devices will automatically negotiate the best display settings. Display setting involves 2 things: resolution and refresh rate.
Interesting things is that how that negotiation is done is actually undefined in the HDMI spec.
For example what is best setting for user?
4k@30hz or 1080p@60hz or 1080p@120hz (which some blueray player support)
For movies watching, I think most people would agree that 4k@30 is probably the setting they would want For playing games, for most users, 1080p@60 would be better, in term of getting the best frame-rate from the graphic card of their devices and also smooth game playing on the TV. For live sport broadcasts, some would argue 1080p@120hz is the best for smooth motion.
So as you can see, there is really no best one setting fit all solution, and some output devices might prioritize frame-rate over resolution, picking 1080p@60/120 over 4k@30. So my guess is that Vizio TV, by forcing 30hz on all 4k port will force the input devices to output 4k, if it is supported.
However with all that said, this is just my educated guess based on my knowledge of HDMI spec. So there is a chance that I could be completely off base as well.
Best,
-Gordon

Hi Lapu209, we don't have a MK808B as a internal testing devices, so I can only guess the at the cause of your issues. I believe that MK808B only support 60hz at 1080p (I am assuming that this is the resolution output for MK808B). I think the problem is that the TV is 4k, and 4K resolution over HDMI 1.4 is only 30hz (at-least until HDMI 2.0 comes out). So I believe that Vizio in order to support 4K input on as many HDMI port as possible, made HDMI port 1-4 30hz only port, to support 4k, and left port 5 as standard 1080p60 port to support none 4k devices.
With that in mind, I believe this is actually a issues of the MK808B hardware, since most HDMI 1080p output devices are suppose to support both 1080p30 and 1080p60 resolution. But it seem that MK808B want to support 1080p60 only. Strange decision, but is probably a cost saving measure.
Hope that helps.

Hi Jonny, thank you for your suggestion. We played with the Xpose Framework scaling addon module in the past as well, but like you mentioned, it required Root access, so that is why we haven't taken a similar approach. We still searching for other ways to achieve UI scaling for standard Android apps without Root access, but so far, haven't had any luck yet.
Best,
-Gordon
